It all began with an idea

What if packaging was made of soap?

Being frustrated about packaging waste in the cosmetic industry, Jonna developed the SOAPBOTTLE concept during her Master thesis in product design.

The concept went viral

Award-winning

The idea has received a lot of interest and recognition, including press, social media coverage and multiple eco-awards.

We started crowdfunding

Kickstarter

Supported by a Dutch company, Jonna was able to set up her own team. To be able to transfer the concept into a real product, we started a crowdfunding campaign. 2,804 backers supported SOAPBOTTLE on Kickstarter with more than 125.000€.

However, as we kicked-off the journey, we encountered unexpected challenges and complexities along the way. We had to realize that the implementation of this new kind of packaging would take much longer than expected. Unable to fulfill our promise to send the products to our crowdfunding backers in time, we decided to pay back the entire amount that was raised.

It was a tough call and it was certainly not our plan to end our Kickstarter adventure this way.

To new beginnings

Team up

Patrick, a designer himself and and one of the project's biggest supporters from the very beginning, introduced Emma to Jonna. With Emma's background in marketing and sales and her passion for sustainability, we decided to join forces and continue SOAPBOTTLE's journey into a new direction.

Research, development and reproduction

Time for action

We have to admit it was quiet around SOAPBOTTLE, but we certainly didn't sit still. We found new partners and conducted research with the help of laboratories. We both had a baby, took time for the family and have continued again.

With SOAPBOTTLE ORIGINALS we are still in product development phase, recognizing there is a long path ahead.

Nevertheless, we have already learnt a lot about soap and fragrances and after careful consideration, we've made the decision to launch in the meantime SOAPBOTTLE SOLIDS.

our debut on the market

SOAPBOTTLE SOLIDS

Although without a liquid core, they will be just as beautiful, colorful and of course a step towards achieving our ultimate goal of reducing single-use plastic waste in our bathrooms and beyond.
